Routing and State Distribution Trade-Offs in SDN

چکیده
Software Defined Networking (SDN) introduces programability into the network forwarding plane and simultaneously enables architectural refactoring of the routing control plane. In this work, we present two complementary studies leveraging the opportunities presented by SDN. First, in the context of internet router architectures in Section II, we propose leveraging OpenFlow forwarding information base (FIB) programability to employ routing table aggregation techniques to reduce FIB memory requirements. Second, in Section III, we investigate a fundamental network design choice introduced by SDN: How centralized vs. distributed to build the routing control plane and what are the crucial considerations when designing a distributed SDN control plane application?

Defining Pathways and Trade-offs Toward Universal Health Coverage; Comment on “Ethical Perspective: Five Unacceptable Trade-offs on the Path to Universal Health Coverage”
The World Health Organization’s (WHO’s) World Health Report 2010, “Health systems financing, the path to universal coverage,” promoted universal health coverage (UHC) as an aspirational objective for country health systems. Yet, in addition to the dimensions of services and coverage, distribution of coverage in the population, and financial risk protection highlighted by the report, the conside...
متن کاملDeveloping a Bi-level Objective Model of Risk-Cost Trade-off for Solving Locating-Routing Problem in Transportation of Hazardous Material
Allocating and routing problems in the field of transportation engineering are generally solved using the objective function of minimizing transport cost. Transport risk is a main concern in hazardous material transportation, mainly dependent on the vision of decision makers (national and/or local authorities). In this research work, a trade-off approach has been proposed to determine the safes...
متن کاملEthical Perspective: Five Unacceptable Trade-offs on the Path to Universal Health Coverage
This article discusses what ethicists have called “unacceptable trade-offs” in health policy choices related to universal health coverage (UHC). Since the fiscal space is constrained, trade-offs need to be made. But some trade-offs are unacceptable on the path to universal coverage. Unacceptable choices include, among other examples from low-income countries, to expand coverage for services wit...
متن کاملA New Mathematical Model for the Green Vehicle Routing Problem by Considering a Bi-Fuel Mixed Vehicle Fleet
This paper formulates a mathematical model for the Green Vehicle Routing Problem (GVRP), incorporating bi-fuel (natural gas and gasoline) pickup trucks in a mixed vehicle fleet. The objective is to minimize overall costs relating to service (earliness and tardiness), transportation (fixed, variable and fuel), and carbon emissions. To reflect a real-world situation, the study considers: (1) a co...
متن کاملA green vehicle routing problem with customer satisfaction criteria
This paper develops an MILP model, named Satisfactory-Green Vehicle Routing Problem. It consists of routing a heterogeneous fleet of vehicles in order to serve a set of customers within predefined time windows. In this model in addition to the traditional objective of the VRP, both the pollution and customers’ satisfaction have been taken into account. Meanwhile, the introduced model prepares a...
